Custom hand-painted patterns for weddings, celebrations, and events.

A Pattern of Your Own

Designed for You

Most weddings and celebrations get the same tablescape. Rented linens. Standard runners. Whatever the rental company has in stock that month. The flowers do the heavy lifting and the linens fade into the background.

There is another way.

A pattern designed for the couple, the host, the moment. Hand-painted. Built around the event’s place, palette, and story. Used on the tablecloths, the napkins, the runners, the welcome bags, the invitations, anywhere a beautiful pattern would do real work. The day stops looking like every other day and starts looking like yours.

That is what custom pattern design at Dolce Vita Arte is for.

What a custom pattern actually is

A custom pattern is an original hand-painted design made for one event. Not pulled from a catalog. Not licensed from someone else’s library. Painted by hand in my studio, based on the mood board, destination, and color palette you bring me.

The deliverable is a set of print-ready pattern files. You or your planner take those files to the production partners that make the actual goods, the linen company, the paper goods printer, the welcome bag fabricator. The pattern is yours to use across the event’s entire visual identity.

That means one design, applied everywhere it makes sense.

Where a custom pattern can live

A custom pattern is not just a tablecloth. Once the design exists, it can be printed on almost anything:

  • Table linens (cloths, runners, napkins)
  • Welcome bag fabric or fabric pouches for guests
  • Invitation suites, menus, programs, place cards
  • Ceremony backdrops and signage
  • Custom packaging for favors and gifts
  • Cocktail napkins
  • Cake table linens

Some clients want one strong application. Some want the pattern threaded through the entire weekend so every detail feels intentional and connected. Both work.

The process

It starts with a conversation. You share the mood board, destination, palette, and any existing visual references. I want to know what the day feels like before I think about what it looks like.

From there:

1. Concept. I sketch one or two pattern directions based on the event’s story.

2. Refinement. We choose a direction together and I refine the colors, motifs, and scale.

3. Final files. I deliver print-ready pattern files, ready to send to your production partners.

The whole process usually takes four to eight weeks, depending on the scope of the project. Faster timelines are possible for shorter projects.

Why custom matters

The wedding and event industry has gotten very good at producing days that look like other days. Same trending palette. Same rented linens from the same three companies. Same fonts on the same invitation suites.

There is nothing wrong with a beautiful trend-driven event. But couples and hosts who hire planners at the high end are usually looking for something else. They want a day that feels *like them*, not like a Pinterest board.

A custom pattern is one of the most efficient ways to deliver that feeling. It takes one design (made for them) and threads it through the day. The result is an event with a visual identity, not just decor.

Who this is for

Custom pattern design is most useful for:

  • Wedding planners and event planners designing for clients who want custom tabletop, paper goods, or visual identity work
  • Couples planning destination weddings who want a pattern rooted in the location (Tuscan motifs, Capri tile, Roman botanicals, California coastal)
  • Hosts planning milestone celebrations, anniversaries, or private dinners that deserve more than rentals
  • Brands and venues wanting a one-off custom design for a campaign, an editorial shoot, or a flagship event

I work with a small number of commissions per season, so the work stays careful and the timelines stay realistic.

Send me your ideas and mood board

If you are planning a wedding, a celebration, or an event that wants a pattern of its own, I would love to see what you are working on. Mood board, destination, palette, anything you have. And we’ll organize a Zoom meeting. The first conversation is free and tells us both whether the project is a good fit.
